Is it just me or are other IT professionals guilty of not practicing what they preach… I was browsing away, using portable Firefox (which I previously praised as being better than PKZip: the software equivalent of sliced bread), listening to tunes using the foxytunes extension and XMPlay all was good in the world…When finished I shut down as normal, using that annoying “Safely remove hardware” icon. The next time I went to surf… My Firefox profile was corrupt. Many strange files in my music directory and a bunch of compressed files that could no longer be accessed… I had to reformat the drive! continue reading…

I’ve seen quite a bit of technology in my 25+ years of IT. This is so simple and yet brilliant.

A Blog is a method of capturing one’s thoughts and sharing them on the web for all to see and comment upon. There are many packages out there to help accomplish this feat…The one I’m using is open source

A Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser. Collaboration at its best.

The internet has made it simple to share your thoughts around the world in just a single post. If that’s not enough Open Source Content management solutions are available to support a broader range of requirements. (Joomla is what I use)
