Those folks at Google are constantly building and upgrading software for the masses. Always growing and improving. I'm sure I contribute to their wealth somehow – but I'm at a loss how :)

One such application is Picasa – most recently upgraded to version 3.  This is a desktop and web based personal photo organizer. With it you can manage all of your digital pictures all (so far) for free.
As their market speak puts it you can…

Organize, Manage your photos in one place, and find photos you forgot you had Edit – Eliminate scratches & blemishes, fix red-eye, crop and more Create/Share – Turn photos into movies, collages, slideshows and more – Upload seamlessly to Picasa Web Albums to share with friends, family & the world blah blah blah… but I can tell you it is all that and more.   I haven't tried flikr.  Friends have sent me links to Kodak albums and they're fine but I'll stick with Picasa. I've been most recently using Picasa's web album capabilities and some third party addons to allow my customers to manage their own photo galleries on their websites.  In fact I have two such addons on this blog site. The sidebar widget that randomly displays pictures does so from my Picasa albums and the Photo page is also sourced from Picasa web albums.

more later…
